Little bit of a red herring in my last post
I always have a hard time picking my favorite of the trilogy. Sometimes it’s Fellowship of the Ring, and sometimes it’s Return of the King. The first one felt closest to the books in terms of the vision of Tolkien, but the last one finally came through with all the set up of the previous films. Sure gay hobbits, multiple endings, and no Scouring of the Shire get taken as criticisms, but overall the last chapter really delivered. The Two Towers may have been the best if they would have stuck closer to the books by downplaying Helm’s Deep and ending after Shelob’s lair.
